LABORATORY AND RESEARCH SERVICES MANAGER

We are seeking to appoint a Laboratory and Research Services Manager for the effective management of the Facultys research and teaching laboratories.

The Faculty of Pharmacy is one of 16 faculties of the University of Sydney and is recognised as one of the leading centres for pharmacy education in Australia. It enjoys an outstanding national and international reputation for research and innovation and undertakes collaborative research with other faculties of the University, with teaching hospitals, with research institutes, with the pharmaceutical industry, and with the profession.We are seeking to appoint a Laboratory and Research Services Manager for the effective management of the Faculty’s research and teaching laboratories and related equipment and infrastructure, including responsibility for ensuring Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) compliance. 

As a Laboratory and Research Services Manager you will be responsible for:

• providing leadership and operational management of the technical team
• OH&S compliance, including development and review of guidelines for general safety and OH&S matters in Faculty
• delivering high quality teaching, research support services and a culture of customer service
• providing strategic support and advice to the Dean, General Manager and Operations Manager in relation to laboratory infrastructure issues, services, assets and resources across the Faculty’s research space
• providing professional, OH&S, instrumentation, teaching and research support to academic staff and postgraduate students in the Faculty.

To succeed in this role, you need to demonstrate:

• relevant degree in Facilities Management, Logistics or Science or equivalent development training and experience
• leadership, management and organisational skills including planning, people and resource management and training activities
• superior analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to make sound judgement
• multidisciplinary skills in the management of laboratories, building infrastructure and services, assets and resources
• ability to provide strategic level advice and support and implement agreed outcomes
• proven ability to effectively lead and motivate a team of technical staff from diverse backgrounds to deliver high quality, professional and timely technical services
• strong initiative and motivation with the ability to work with a considerable degree of autonomy and as part of a team.

Remuneration package: $98,529 - $111,120 p.a.
