Buying a practice is a challenge for the inexperienced and young professionals.

A good practitioner doesn't necessarily make a great practice owner. The burden of ownership and practice management require specialised development and training. While some are instinctively good at it most will need to develop their management skills (or those of their support team) to match their professional skills.

We have found that informed buyers ask the right questions and gather the important information early in the process. This gives them a head start in the negotiating process.

Medici Capital is hosting its Pharmacy "Ownership Ready" sessions this year in Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney and on the Gold Coast in the next three months. These sessions focus on:
  • How to evaluate a pharmacy?
  • What to look for and avoid?
  • Understanding financial statements
  • What factors impact a valuation?
  • What information is relevant and important?
  • How to negotiate the deal?
  • The real cost of money and borrowing, Sources of money and how to compare them; and
  • Partnerships and other options
It's important when buying that you can assess the potential of the business. In 2008 we plan to host a series for other professions.

For more information contact Medici Capital on 03 9853 7933 or email info[at]medici[dot]com[dot]au .

Comments from previous participants:

"I think the content of both sessions was excellent as I am coming from no experience or background in purchasing a pharmacy. It has started the mind thinking about the many issues I need to consider in order to make the right decision for myself"

"Great topics of relevance. Got some great points which I can use for my next partnership investigation"

"A good starting point for understanding what's required in getting into business"

"Medici Capital assisted us in organising finance for our new and existing partners. We were most impressed with the efficient and professional manner in which this was arranged"
