Last week, Jobs4Careers began a number of additions to the site, aimed at improving the use of our systems by job listers and job seekers. Last week, we loaded up our mobile barcode system.

This system provides a barcode on each job listing - similar to the one below - that can be viewed on screen or when the job listing is printed.

Use your mobile phone camera and barcode reader to access the web address for this job on your mobile phone:

Jobs4Careers has developed a mobile specific pharmacy job site. You can view this job and many others at http://www.jobs4careers.com.au/mobile.

You may all be familiar with the linear barcodes (or 1D barcodes) used on many product packaging in retail. These are the barcodes that display vertical black and white lines of varying spaces that represent numbers. However, these are often incapable of holding larger amounts of data, hence the introduction of 2D barcodes as displayed above.

Nowadays, many mobile phones are equipped with cameras. Using these camera's mobile phones are now capable of reading these 2D mobile barcodes, enabling the user to retrieve information from a website or printed material.

When viewing a job listing on our website, you can scan the barcode to save the information about the job on your mobile phone. You will be presented with the address of our specifically developed mobile website to the page where the job is displayed - allowing you to save the job to your phone, or view it later at your convenience.*

In addition, if you print the job listing, you can scan the printed barcode and apply for the job, even when you're away from your computer.*

* Note: Web-browsing from your mobile phone may incur additional costs - please check with your operator.

For more information on how to make use of our barcode system, please contact us on 03 9853 7452.
